Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are your operating hours?
Preservation Hall is open for nightly concerts from 8pm to 11pm, 7 nights a week, with the exception of certain holidays and special events. We have three individual 45-minute performances nightly at 8:15, 9:15, and 10:15. Please see our Concert Schedule by clicking HERE.

Q: How much is the admission fee? Can I pay with a card?
General admission is $15 per person and is good for one 45-minute performance. Preservation Hall additionally offers a student admission of $10; to take advantage of this discounted rate, students must show their student ID. Admission is CASH ONLY.

Q: Reserved seating: How do I get reserved seats? How far in advance should I purchase the tickets? How do I redeem these tickets?
You may purchase our $30 "Big Shot Spot" VIP Ticketing via our website at www.preservationhall.com/tickets or by phone at 1-877-435-9849. There are 8 VIP tickets per show, 24 VIP tickets for the evening. This VIP ticket entitles you to skip the line and reserves your seat for the performance of your choice. Guests should purchase their tickets at least 24-hours in advance to the performance they would like to attend. To redeem your tickets, please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the performance you have purchased tickets for, with a photo ID or credit card to verify your reservation. Our night staff will show you to your seating, located on the side of the band stand.

Q: I have a large party looking to attend a performance at Preservation Hall. Can I purchase advance tickets for my whole group?
We do not accept group payments. We recommend the following options:

A) If you're looking to attend the first performance at 8:15, arrive as early as possible. Please note that the entire group must be in line(no place holders).

B) Our last performance at 10:15 is often the most lightly attended show. We generally steer larger groups towards this last show.

C) For groups of 20 or more, we also suggest arranging for a private concert. Contact our Private Event Coordinator by Clicking HERE.

Q: Is Preservation Hall an all ages venue?
Yes, Preservation Hall is an all ages venue.

Q: How many people can you fit inside the venue? How many people do you seat?
Our venue holds about 100 people, with enough bench and floor-cushion seating for 40, and the remaining space serving as standing room only.

Q: When does the line start forming?
The line generally starts to form around 7:00pm for the first show. Doors open at 8:00pm for the first performance.

Q: If the first show is sold out, how do I get in?
There are three individual performances nightly at Preservation Hall, at 8:15, 9:15, and 10:15. If you do not get in for our 8:15 performance, we have two remaining performances at 9:15 and 10:15. You are welcome to wait in line to guarantee your spot, or come back at a later time.

Q: Once admission has been paid, can I stay all three performances?
No, due to our limited capacity, your ticket is good for only one 45-minute performance. After each performance, we do a full turnover of the venue to accommodate our next group of eager concertgoers.

Q: Do you serve food and beverages inside the venue? Can I bring food and drinks inside the venue?
We do not serve food and beverages at Preservation Hall. Food is not allowed inside; however, you are more than welcome to bring in your own beverages, only if in a plastic container - no glass containers allowed.

Q: Can I film, record, or photograph during the performance?
No photography, video and audio recordings of any kind are permitted during the performance.
